Russian Lips Frequently asked questions
- 01Russian Lips is an advanced lip enhancement technique I use to create a beautifully defined Cupid's bow, increased vertical height, and an elegant, sculpted appearance — all while minimizing forward projection. Instead of just adding bulk, I'm building shape and lift, and every Russian Lips treatment plan I create is customized to your unique anatomy for refined, balanced results.
- 02Traditional filler is usually placed horizontally to plump the lips evenly outward. With Russian Lips, I inject vertically, in smaller amounts spread across more points, concentrating volume at the center of the lip and the Cupid's bow. The result is height and definition rather than pure projection — a heart-shaped, sculpted look instead of a uniformly "plumped" one.
- 03No — that's actually the opposite of what Russian Lips is designed to do. Because the technique focuses on lift and shape rather than outward volume, it avoids the overprotruding look that can happen with traditional filler placement. I map your natural lip anatomy first, so your Russian Lips result looks elegant and proportioned to your face, never overdone.
- 04I apply a numbing cream about 15–20 minutes before we start. Russian Lips does use more injection points than a standard filler appointment, but because the filler is placed more superficially, most of my clients find it very manageable — a bit more sensation than traditional filler, but nothing most people would call painful.

- 07Very minimal. Mild swelling and light bruising for one to four days is normal and expected. I recommend ice, avoiding straws, holding off on makeup for the first hour, and not touching or massaging the treated area while it settles. Most of my Russian Lips clients go right back to their normal routine the same day.
- 08
- 09Russian Lips tends to work beautifully for clients with naturally thinner or asymmetrical lips who want more height, definition, and shape rather than added bulk. It's also a great option for a smaller, more delicate face where a lot of added volume might look disproportionate. I'll go over your medical history, including any allergies, medications, or previous filler, at your consultation to confirm it's the right fit.

- 11As with any hyaluronic acid filler treatment, temporary swelling, bruising, and tenderness are the most common effects. More serious risks like infection or vascular complications are rare and are minimized significantly by working with an experienced injector who understands lip anatomy and artery placement — which is exactly the care I bring to every Russian Lips appointment.
