What is a unit?
A unit is the measure of Botox dose. Your provider divides the total units across specific muscles, so the total depends on how many areas you treat and how strong those muscles are. Cleveland Clinic explains how Botox works and what to expect.

Typical units by area
The FDA-approved prescribing information for Botox Cosmetic lists these standard doses:
Area | FDA label dose | Cost at $10–$14 per unit |
Glabellar lines (frown lines between the brows) | 20 units | $200–$280 |
Lateral canthal lines (crow’s feet, both sides) | 24 units (12 per side) | $240–$336 |
Forehead lines | 20 units | $200–$280 |
Forehead + glabella together | 40 units | $400–$560 |
Upper face (forehead + glabella + crow’s feet) | 64 units | $640–$896 |
These are reference doses, not a quote. Your provider may use more or fewer units for your anatomy and goals. The doses above are for Botox. Dixi’s MediSpa also offers Xeomin® and Daxxify®, and units are not interchangeable between brands, so the number can differ with the product.
What changes your number
• Muscle strength. Strong muscles, often in men, usually need more.
• Treatment area size. A wider forehead needs more.
• Your goal. Smoothing lines versus completely freezing movement.
• Whether you’ve had Botox before. Newer clients sometimes start conservatively.
• How you want to look. A natural result may mean leaving some movement.
Does more Botox mean better results?
No. Too many units can create a heavy, flat look. Too few can wear off fast. The goal is the right dose in the right muscles.
How much will it cost?
Botox at Dixi’s MediSpa is $10–$14 per unit. For a frown-line treatment of 20 units, that’s $200–$280. Packages and memberships are available for ongoing care.
How long does each dose last?
Typically about 3 to 4 months. A touch-up at the 2-week mark can fine-tune results if needed. Ask your provider about the touch-up policy. For safety information, see the FDA Medication Guide for Botox Cosmetic.
Can I get a lighter option?
A lip flip ($100) uses a small amount of wrinkle relaxer to relax the muscle around the upper lip.
