PRE-CARE AND POST-CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Milias & Wart Removal

Preparing your skin correctly and following proper aftercare is essential to ensure a safe recovery and achieve the best results from your Milia & Wart Removal in Shreveport, LA. At Dixi’s MediSpa, we provide these clear professional guidelines to ensure your procedure using the Plamere Plasma Pen is highly effective with minimal downtime.

Two Weeks Prior to Your HydraFacial

  • Sun Protection: Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning beds. Treatments cannot be performed on sunburned, heavily tanned, or inflamed skin, as this significantly increases the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (dark spots).

  • No Self-Tanners: Discontinue the use of self-tanning creams, sprays, or professional tans on the treatment area.

  • Avoid Intensive Treatments: Refrain from chemical peels, laser resurfacing, or microneedling in the target area at least 14 days before your appointment.

Three Days Prior to Your HydraFacial

  • Pause Active Ingredients: Stop using Retinol, Tretinoin, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, and Vitamin C in the treatment area to prevent skin sensitivity.

  • Avoid Exfoliation: Do not use physical scrubs or any products that may irritate or sensitize the skin.

  • Monitor Medications: Ensure you have finished any photosensitizing medications (like certain antibiotics) at least 7 days prior. If prone to cold sores and treating the mouth area, consult your doctor for antiviral medication to start beforehand.

Day of Treatment

  • Clean Skin Only: Arrive with a clean face (or treatment area)—no makeup, oils, lotions, or perfumes. If treating eyelids, ensure all mascara is removed.

  • Hair: If you have long hair and are treating the face or neck, please bring a tie to keep it away from the treatment zone.

  • Numbing: We will apply a topical numbing cream upon your arrival to ensure your comfort during the procedure.

What to Expect After a HydraFacial

  • Carbon Crusts: You will have tiny, dark brown dots (carbon crusts or scabs) where each lesion was treated. This is a normal and necessary part of the healing process.

  • Immediate Sensation: The area may feel warm, tight, or similar to a localized sunburn immediately after treatment.

  • Swelling: Mild to moderate swelling is common, especially if treating near the eyes (milia). Swelling typically peaks within 24–48 hours and subsides quickly.

Post-Treatment Care

  • CLEAN: Keep the area clean and dry. Gently cleanse with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap only after the first 24 hours. Do not rub or scrub the area; pat dry gently.

  • DRY HEALING: We generally recommend "dry healing" for the first 48 hours to allow the carbon crusts to stabilize. Do not apply regular moisturizers until the crusts fall off.

  • PROTECT THE CRUSTS: This is crucial. Do NOT pick, scratch, or peel the carbon crusts. They must fall off naturally (usually 5–10 days for milia, up to 14 days for warts) to avoid scarring.

  • HYDRATE: Once the crusts have fallen off, apply a gentle, clinical-grade moisturizer or the recovery balm recommended by your technician.

  • SUNSCREEN: After the crusts fall off, you must apply a broad-spectrum physical sunscreen (SPF 50+) daily to the area for at least 3 months to prevent permanent skin discoloration.

What to Avoid After HydraFacial

  • NO Picking: Never touch or peel the scabs.

  • Active Skincare: Avoid Retinols, acids (AHAs/BHAs), and Vitamin C for at least 4 weeks on the treated area.

  • Makeup: Do not apply makeup or concealer to the treated spots until the carbon crusts have completely fallen off.

  • Heat & Sweat: Avoid hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and strenuous exercise for at least 48 hours (or until swelling subsides) to minimize inflammation.

  • Sun Exposure: Strictly avoid direct sunlight for 2 weeks. Tanning beds are prohibited for at least 3 months.

  • Water: Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools, lakes, or oceans until the area is completely healed.
